You do not register tips in Kassatellen.nl. It is customary within the Hospitality industry that the tip jar is managed by the employees of the company and not by the company itself.
What do you do with tips?
Employees keep the tips separate during the evening. This means that when a guest pays with cash, the surplus is takes out of the cash drawer and put in the tip jar. If the guest pays per card, you actually do the same thing. You let the guest pay the total amount by card and then take the cash tip from the cash drawer to put it in the tip jar.
A calculation example:
The bill is EUR 46.
The guest pays EUR 50 per card.
The employee takes EUR 4 from the cash drawer and puts it in the tip jar.
Still a cash difference
You often see that large cash differences are the consequences of tips that not have been taken out of the cash drawer. They have been put in the tip jar. It is therefore advisable to always double check whether the employees have dealt with their tips properly. Do you still have a cash difference? It could be possible that the employee has not counted the cash that is actually present in the cash drawer but just looked at the mount that the cash register displays.
It could also be that the employee who draws up the cash statement has forgotten to fill in additions and/or withdrawals. Often, at the start of the day, coin rolls are put in the cash drawer. You should not forget to fill that in at 'Added to cash register'. The same applies to any withdrawals. For example, for groceries that have been paid in cash during the day. You fill this in at 'Paid from cash register'.
Is that not the case and you still have a cash difference? Always have the employee make a note at the bottom of the cash statement explaining why he thinks there is a cash difference.
